Hello and welcome to The Inky Nook !
It has been a busy and a slow week for me with all the snow and a car breakdown thrown in for good measure. I can’t recommend the AA enough after they rescued me during the early evening rush hour. Luckily it was just before all the heavy snowfall and the local garage we use fixed it within half a day. My son’s school made the decision to shut at lunchtime on Wednesday, hubby had been snowed off and our daughter’s school had been shut all day. I know the weather has caused chaos but I’ve loved having my familly at home for unexpected snow days. We’ve had snowball fights, been sledging and had fish finger sandwiches when we had to rely on the village shop when we were snowed in.
Anyway back to the crafting……
Why is Epic Celebration perfect for teen cards?
This is a go to set and makes me smile as it is a go to stamp during Saleabration and beyond. Epic Celebration is perfect for teen cards because:
- it has sentiments that aren’t too gushy for the teenage mind and,
- the images are non-gender specific (see below).
Why the sudden obsession with teenage cards?
My daughter is about to become a teenager which means she wants cards for her friends and friends have teenagers. It’s that awkward time for card makers where the recipient won’t appreciate a card filled with fairies or dinosaurs. Equally, they don’t want too grown up a card so I was excited when I saw this set.
Epic Celebration perfect for teen cards – girls
This cute card was for a birthday yesterday and it doesn’t seem five minutes since they were starting in Reception. I started with a Lemon Lime Twist card base, followed by a Smoky Slate and Whisper White layers. I stamped the trainers in Perfect Plum in one corner and placed several strips of washi tape (Perfect Plum, Lemon Lime Twist and Island Indigo) in the middle of the layer.
Next I cut out four number “13s” in Perfect Plum cardstock so I could layer them up to give a 3D effect, see below.
I glued them together and stuck to the card finishing off with three co-oridinating enamel star shapes.
Epic Celebration perfect for teen cards – boys
This card was for my nephew and used Emerald Envy,Dapper Denim and Lemon Lime Twist ink pads and cardstock. Stampin’ Up! has 2 In Colour collections and run for two years but out of sync by a year. Therefore Flirty Flamingo, Peekaboo Peach, Dapper Denim, Emerald Envy and Sweet Sugarplum are only available to the end of May 2018.
I punched out a Silver Glimmer circle and added some rhinestone basic jewels to give a little extra wow. Do you love a bit of sparkle on your cards as much as me?
I hope I’ve convinced you what a versatile stamp set Epic Celebration is from the Saleabration freebie offering, available until the end of March.
Time for me to say good bye until next time and I’d love to hear your comments below -snow related or not !
Inky hugs,
Carrie x
