Masculine cards – don’t be scared !
Hands up, if you dread having to make a masculine card as it takes you right out of your comfort zone?
Yes, my hand is in the air too ! Don’t get me wrong I love the men in my life; hubby, my son, Dad and brother but cards for them make me nervous…..
Anyway, welcome to The Inky Nook you may have just joined me from the lovely Sandra at Sandra’s Stamp & Craft Studio or are starting with off with me. We are a group of Stampin’ Up demonstrators united through our SUBA IT training. The lovely Pip and Louise head up the Simply Unique Business Angels and you can head over to their website here if you’d like to find out a little more.
Masculine card challenge
I set myself an extra challenge this month as I don’t possess a masculine themed stamp set so I needed to create something masculine using an existing stamp set. I chose the new Abstract Impressions set which is part of the Garden Impressions product suite . I’m sure you will agree from the gorgeous projects shown below that it’s a msut have.
I selected my colour combination of: Night of Navy, Lemon Lime Twist and Tranquil Tide and panicked (only joking !) then set up creating.
I started off using the grass bushes stamped in each colour along the edge of the white card layer. Next I added dimension by building up the swirls using 3 stamps and each colour. I think this colour combo is ideal for masculine cards.
Fun masculine gift bag
Next I made a fun little bag which I then popped a bottle of beer in for a masculine inspired gift. I used the Garden Impressions designer series paper to create little panels on the card and added the cute gift tag to finish it off.
Here is a little picture of them together and now I just need to keep them until the perfect recipient comes along….

Thanks Leighsa – I wanted to set myself a challenge this month and hopefully succeeded. Please share your creations once you get the set !
They look good, makes a change to use different colours aswell as design as yes male cards are more tricky.
Thank you – I hope I’ve inspired you to have a go at trying something different 🙂
Gorgeous card and gift bag Carrie. Love the colour combo on the card. x
