Welcome to the Stampin’ Creative Blog Hop. Hello there ! Currently you’re visiting Carrie at The Inky Nook and I’m a guest designer along with Renee this month – thank you for allowing us to join ladies. Look out for my Stampin’ twin Eimear…. To see the rest of the blogs in the hop, please see the list below. The theme is non traditional festive and red or green are not allowed this month – it’s a tough challenge.
Festive Farmhouse Suite
The Festive Farmhouse array was one of the first things on my Autumn/Winter wish list. Why? Because it has such a traditional feel and it’s key colours shout Christmas in the form of Cherry Cobbler and Mossy Meadow. So now I can hear you asking that’s going to be a challenge to use it for a non traditional festive theme ! I flicked through the designer series paper (DSP) and found the Gray Granite star sheet (the rest all had red or green on) and I knew I just had to use it. Are you like me and adore anything with stripes, spots, stars and hearts ?
Next I picked my sentiment and stamped it in Gray Granite before cutting it out with the Stitched Shapes framelits. I popped some detail onto the card base using an embossing framelit from the Stitched Labels set. Then a swoosh of shimmery white embossing paste onto the DSP behind where I wanted the sentiment to sit.
I then popped some twine thread around the base and tied a little button onto this which I held down with a glue got. The silver metallic thread was circled around the back of the sentiment and stampin’ dimensionals were used to secure it on top of the DSP. I still wanted a little more sparkle so I popped on some metallic sequins randomly over the card.
Inside I added a single layer which was embossed in the corner using the same framelit to create the background texture on the front of the card.
Matching gift box
I made a co-ordinating gift box using a white gable box and stamped it with the “falling snow” stamp in Balmy Blue. To finish it off I copied the sentiment from the card as a gift tag tied on with some sequin trim.
As always I had great fun creating at my crafty desk and it really only took me less than 30 minutes from start to finish.
Thank you for visiting and I can’t wait to see how the rest of the team has followed the non traditional festive theme. To carry on with your hop just click on the next name in the list below and we’d really appreciate it if you left us a little comment too.
Inky hugs,
Carrie xx
