Craft for children
Hello and welcome to this month’s Friends of SUBA blog hop where our theme is children. I’m excited to see what the other ladies have created for you too. You may be starting the hop with me or just arrived from someone else in the hop but there is a full list of everyone in the hop at the end of my post. Feel free to hop around and leave us all a comment as it really makes our day !
We all met at training course run by the fabulous Pip Todman and Louise Sims and you can find out more about them and what they can offer you here
Snakes and Ladders meets Animal Outing
I decided to do a slightly different version of snakes and ladders using the Animal Outing stamp set. Firstly I selected the board base from the Share What You Love designer series papers. Next I used the Stitched Shapes framelits to cut out the board squares and stamped a background image using the Abstract Impressions stamp set. Finally I added the numbers to each square and glued them to the base.
Giraffes and branches
I stamped the images and coloured using Stampin’ Blends and the watercolour pencils and stuck them on with glue dots. The giraffes replace the traditional ladders and the branches substitute for the traditional snakes.
Game name conundrum
I was originally going to call the game “Jungle” but you don’t find many kangaroos there ! So I decided it would be called “Zoo Safari” but would only include the word “Safari. To create the game name at the bottom which I’ve added an extra dimensional layer by using a light and dark colour for the letters to cut out. I’ve used Mossy Meadow as the back layer and Grapefruit Grove on the top and it just “pops” the letters out from the board base.
The games characters are this super cute elephant and rhino – aren’t they just adorable?
I hope you like what I’ve created and possibly even inspired you to have a go at thinking outside the box with your stamp sets. It’s now time for you to hop over and see what Deborah has created – just click on the button below.
Inky hugs,
Carrie
