Hello and welcome to this month’s blog hop all about Father’s Day and male themed cards. I’m excited to see what the other ladies have created for you too !
We all met on the fabulous IT business training from the Simply Unique Business Angels (SUBA). This is headed up by Pip Todman and Louise Sims and to find out more about them click here
Father’s Day 2019
I’m very lucky to have my Dad living close by and my children adore their Popsie ! From last month’s SUBA hop you know how much I love the new Sail Away suite (see the post here) and that inspired my Father’s Day card for him today.
How can you make this – follow my tutorial
I started with a Night of Navy cardstock base measuring 14.9cm by 21cm (scored at 10.5cm). There are two whisper white cardstock layers; one for the inside measuring 14.4cm by 10cm), one layer for the card front measuring 14.9cm by 9.5cm. I chose a piece of the designer series paper and cut this to 14.9cm by 10.5cm and glued this to the card base.
Next I stamped the boat images in Staz On black allowing them to dry before watercolouring the Balmy Blue sea background around them. To do this pop a clear block onto the ink pad to lift off the ink and then use the aqua painter or blender pen to watercolour your image. Using the Night of Navy and Mossy Meadow ink pads to colour the boat hulls in and leaving the sails white. I looped the Bakers Twine around the card layer and adhered the ends to the back using double sided tape.
You’re over halfway there
The next step is to glue this layer onto the designer series paper before adding the seagulls. These were stamped in Night of Navy and fussy cut each one out. I popped a little bit of glue under the seagull body so that the wings were left to “float” in the air and add dimension to the card.
Finally die cut the rope using the Smooth Sailing dies from Soft Suede cardstock and glue below the twine. To create the Father’s Day sentiment label; stamp the image with Versamark, sprinkling with white Stampin’ emboss powder and then heat embossing with the heat gun.
Time for you to hop on using the blog hop list below and thank you so much for joining me. After the hop list you will see a list of all the products I’ve used for my card. But believe me you will be able to make a whole heap of fabulous things with and not just one card !
I’d love it if you have time to leave me a comment below and let me know what you think.
Inky hugs,
