Summer crafting

Now if you are in the UK like me, the weather can be slightly interchangeable on a daily basis ! Crafting is the perfect way to spend a rainy day at home or shelter from the midday sun. You could send a postcard, create a holiday scrapbook or making some bunting to hang in the garden. It can also be a great parent/carer and child activity especially to keep a record of your summer holiday activities.

My children used to love a picnic in the garden, a day at the seaside or going to cool down at the local ice cream parlour. They still love it now even though they are teenagers ! We will be having a staycation as my husband is a self employed gardener so this is his busiest time of year. Needless to say we shall hopefully get to the seaside for some beach days soon.

Summer holidays = seaside trips

There is something about the North Norfolk coastline that warms my heart and soul maybe it’s because I was born in Norfolk. I have childhood memories of walking through the woods at Wells-next-the-sea and visiting Holkham. And have you noticed that fish and chips always tastes better at the beach. So today I wanted to share Seaside Notions with you as it would be great for making cards to send home to family and friends whilst on your summer holidays.

One sheet wonder to create multiple card backgrounds

To create my set of summer cards today I took a sheet of whisper white cardstock and then randomly stamped centrally top to bottom and left to right. This made a cross shape and I cut this down into quarters measuring 14.9cm by 10.5cm. Next I trimmed 0.5cm off one long edge and one short edge (i.e. so they measured 14.4cm by 10cm). This is a quick way of creating your own background layers if you don’t have any designer series papers.

To create the set, I made card bases using the same colours as the ink pads I used and glued the layers down

Vitamin Sea

If you are a more experienced crafter and wanted to take these cards up another level for a little more “wow” I have created the next card. I stamped the seahorse image and then coloured with Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blends. and fussy cut with my Stampin’ Snips. I did add a little Wink of Stella glitter to Mr Seahorse before using some Stampin’ DImensionals to stick him to the card.

Now, take some scrap whisper white cardstock and randomly stamp over it using Seaside Notions stamps. I took the Playful Alphabet dies and foam adhesive sheets and die cut “Vit Sea” from this stamped cardstock and stuck in the corner.
