Sending a message of love and hope to family and friends during the tighter lockdown restrictions that have come in to play across the UK this week. I know for us personally we have enjoyed being able to meet some of our favourite people who live locally whilst restrictions have eased. We still have a long way to go though before we can get back to those bear hugs with grandparents. Therefore sending a handmade card you have made to those people will bring a smile to their faces.
One of the reasons I began papercrafting is because I love to send cards and gifts and I think handmade is extra special. The added benefit is I get to express my creativity and relax as I make their cards and gifts.
Love is what makes us family
My first lockdown card to share uses a whisper white card base with a stamped layer added on top. I am using 4 colours to stamp with which you can see in the produt list at the end of the blog. You could easily switch the colours and my advice would be to pick 2 darker vibrant colours and 1-2 lighter subtle colours. I created a pretty mix of stamped images across the layer. I coloured some white crinkled ribbon with a Petal Pink Stampin’ Blend and tied this in a bow around the stamped layer.
Next I glued this layer to the card and created the banner labels in crushed curry and night of navy. I heat embossed the sentiment onto the night of navy cardstock. You could stamp in whisper white craft ink of you don’t have a heat tool or change the card and ink colour to suit. Take the lovely labels pick a punch and punch the ends of your two card strips before gluing to the card with some dimensionals (foam pads).
Miles apart but still in my heart
I want to show you how could step up your project. Instead of using a whisper white card base I have changed it to a night of navy card base with a crushed curry layer before adding the stamped layer. You will notice I have changed the colours I used with each stamp set compare to the first card above.
Thank you so much for joining me I hope you like the projects I have shared. If you’d like to see me making my lockdown cards you can catch the replay of my facebook live. Don’t forget to send a lockdown card to a friend or family member especially those living alone. I will be back tomorrow as it’s time for the Stamptastic Friends monthly blog hop. Let me know in the comments who you will be sending a card to or ask a question if you have one.
