I suddenly realised this week that my stash of birthday cards was beginning to get a little low so I wanted to make some quick simple cards up. I am using designer series paper (DSP) in blocks arranged on a card base with a simple birthday sentiment.
Today I am using the 2020-22 In Colours designer series papers and co-ordinating cardstock and ink pads. You could choose alternative colours and birthday sentiment stamps according to what you already have. So shall we start with the designs .
Simple birthday card 1
The first card I made uses Magenta Madness and I kept same colour throughout. Magenta Madness is perfect for those friends and family who are the life and the soul of the party ! The card base measures 14.9cm by 21cm and scored at 10.5cm followed by the woodgrain DSP layer measuring 14.9cm by 10.5cm. Before gluing the woodgrain DSP to the card base I popped some twine behind it to tie into a bow at the end.
Next I cut the ‘script’ DSP to a small panel and stamped the sentiment onto some white cardstock. I used the Family Party photopolymer stamp set for this card. Then I punched each end of the sentiment label with the Lovely Labels pick a punch.
I stuck the sentiment on with mini dimensionals so I could secure the twine in place in between the dimensionals. Finally I placed three In Colour enamel dots in Misty Moonlight over the card front.
Simple birthday card 2
The second card introduces 2 colours, Just Jade and Bumblebee which I think make a lovely colour combination. On the Bumblebee card base (same measurements as card 1) I added a dotty DSP layer . This layer measures 14.4cm by 10cm because this allows the card base to frame the DSP.
Next I cut two more rectangles from DSP and cut one end on each into a banner shape. For the second card I stamped the sentiment using the Many Mates stamp set in Just Jade. The sentiment was punched out using the 1.5″ circle punch and stuck to the card with stampin’ dimensionals. As with the first card I finished off by adding some more In Colour enamel dots this time in Bumblebee.
I will add a list of the products I used on both cards below. If you would to see other designer series paper cards on my blog follow the link. Now will you have a go at recreating these designs to build up your card stash and save yourself time?
