Hello and welcome to today’s Tech 4 Stampers blog hop where the theme is here comes summer !
I am currently obsessed with the Sweet ice cream bundle. My blog post last week also uses the same bundle and uses masculine colours for a male birthday card. Anyway back to today and the cards and gift bag were created for a friend of my teenage daughter.
Eating ice cream at our local parlour
In summer we love to visit Newfield Dairy ice cream parlour and cafe which is based just outside Southell, Nottinghamshire. They have the most amazing selection of flavours so you are spoilt for choice and they make all their own ice cream ! Do you have anything like this near you?
The card above was created by stamping the triangle cone infill in multiple different colours, a bit like all the different ice cream flavours. I took a strip of Bermuda Bay cardstock and used Versamark ink and embossing powder for the ‘Happy Birthday’ sentiment. The 2 little ice creams were fussy cut from retired designer series paper but you could replace these with the stamps from the set instead. I added a strip of the sheer ribbon behind the Bermuda Bay strip to add a little extra detail.
Summer shaker birthday card
This is a fun card next and if you haven’t made a shaker card before then please do have a go soon. A shaker card is where you create a window filled with sprinkles/sequins etc on your card front. If you then shake the card the inside shapes will move around.
How do I create a shaker card I hear you ask?
First of all you need to cut out a section on your front card layer and you can see from mine I have punched out a circle on the front. Next stick some clear window sheet at the back and fix foam adhesive strips to the window sheet following the circle frame edge. Sprinkle your ‘filling’ inside and then fix a piece of card which is a little bigger than your frame to the back. The trick is to not overfill your window as then the filling won’t have any space to shake around.
Co-ordinating gift bag
I have a supply of little white gift bags ready for present bags at all times. This bag has been jazzed up by the addition of a stamped ice cream and gift tag. The gift tag was simply a rectangle of cardstock that I stamped the sprinkles onto along with the ‘treat yourself’ sentiment. I made a little hole in the top and threaded the blackberry bliss ribbon through and secured it with the linen thread bow to the bag handle.
So which of the projects is your favourite? And I’d love to hear what reminds you of summer below before you hop onto the next person in the list below. I hope you have a fantastic summer in 2021 too ! Until next time….
