Hello and welcome to this month’s blog hop where the theme is garden/wildlife. My husband is a keen gardener as are several friends and family so I knew I wanted to share a gardening gift with you. The wild poppies have already flowered in the garden so whilst they dry out I thought the mason jar domes would be ideal seed holders. This then evolved into a seed storage box for a gardener.
Seed storage box – first steps
I have used a blending brush to colour in a paper pumpkin box with Fresh Fressia all over. Taking a versamark pad I’ve stamped one of the wildflower bunches from the Jar of Flowers stamp set across the front cover. Then sprinkled copper emobossing powder over this and set it with the heat tool. The final step was to add the ‘seed’ wording on top using the playful alphabet dies and co-ordinating cardstock.
Seed envelopes
These were created using the mini 3 x 3 envelopes and stamping them with the In Colours and Jar of Flowers stamps. I thought you could write the type of seeds and the date you harvested them onto the front of the envelope and store in the box
Mason jar seed holders
This is a fun way to use the mason jar domes in your papercrafting. I cut a strip of cardstock measuring 14 cm by 5cm and then scored it at 7cm. Next the infill jar stamp was inked in the same colour as the cardstock on to the front cover and punch out using the jar punch. Then peel off the top layer of the mason jar and fix to the back of the front cover to create your seed holder. I glued the punched out jar to the back of the seed holder.
Then when you are ready to add the seeds and store them you can peel off the back layer of the mason jar and secure the seeds.
Don’t they look pretty and effective? And the mason jar seed holders and envelopes all fit inside the seed storage box so they will be stored in a cool and dark place.
Thanks for joining me today
It’s been lovely to create this seed storage box to share with you all today. Who could you think of that you could make this for? Let me know in the comments and do tag me with #theinkynook if you have a go at making one too. Now let’s see what Sandra has created for the hop today using the list below.
