The Stamptastic Friends are using a simple card sketch layout for the blog hop today.

Using a card sketch is handy when you need a bit of inspiration to get started with your card. So shall we see what I have created to share with you and then you can jump around the rest of the hop.

This is the card sketch design and I am going to use the Cottage wreath stamp set and co-ordinating dies to create my “circle” image. Other interpretations could include a different shape or a designer series circle punched out.

Cottage wreath simple card sketch

On a piece of vanilla cardstock I stamped the leafy wreath using Pretty Peacock and then used the dies to cut it out. Next I stamped the little oak leaves in soft sea foam onto the same colour card base. These were stamped in a way to slightly peak out from behind the wreath die cut. I did this by placing the die cut wreath on the card base and then lifting it off to stamp behind it. Once I’d gone all the way round I place the wreath back on the card to see if I needed to add any more leaves. I’m glad I did this as I did add another couple of random ones in but you couldn’t see the over stamp as they were hidden behind the die cut.

Secure the wreath to the card using stampin’ dimensionals (foam pads) to give the card extra depth. The sentiment could be cut out using a banner die or fussy cut. I snipped the flag ends off and glued them to the wreath then added the main ‘hello’ using dimensionals again. The final step was to glue some of the loose daisy embellishments over the wreath.

Added extra elements to ‘finish’ off the card

I added a vanilla insert to the card and partially stamped the wreath stamp but used soft sea foam to give a more subtle look which mirrored the front of the card (see below pic). Then in the above picture you can see I repeated the same thing on the corner of the envelope.
