Stamptastic Friends blog hop wording in blue and pink font

Welcome to the monthly Stamptastic Friends blog hop where this month’s theme is colouring techniques. I need to send some little presents to friends so need a little gift bag or two. So today I’m going to give a you a quick tutorial on how to make these bags whilst using my Stampin’ Blends to colour. Stampin’ Blends are alcohol markers but they blend beautifully and really help your images pop out from your papercrafting projects.

Little gift bag tutorial – step 1

Ok so what do you need first ! You need a piece of designer series paper (DSP) measuring 6″ by 11″ and if you are using a directional pattern be careful. The pattern should be in the right direction horizontally, ie the pattern should be the right way up along the long edge. For the flap over you need a piece of card that measure approx 5″ by 3.75″ I cut mine out with the big tag die in the Citrus Blooms dies.

Step 2

Score the DSP on the short side at 1.5″ and then on the long side at 3.75″, 5.25″, 9″ and 10.5″ Fold over the score lines to give the edges a more defined appearance.

Step 3

Cut the flaps along the bottom to the first score line and then taper in the flap edges apart from the end long edge. This end long edge will form the bottom of the gift bag. Using double sided tape or glue, whichever you prefer, along the thin flap and stick to the other long end. Next with tape or glue fold in the bottom flaps and secure the bottom of the little gift bag.

Step 4 – add the little gift bag opening top flap

Cut the top flap in a rectangle or use the Citrus Blooms tag die from card stock. You need to score this at approximately 2.5″ to fold over the top of the bag. Glue the back of the opening top flap to the back of the little gift bag. Decorate the front of the opening tap flap as you choose. I stamped and coloured the single orange stem with the Stampin’ Blends and added depth with the light and dark blends.

Can you picture yourself on holiday in the Mediterranean now? I’m currently sipping a blood orange gin with mediterranean tonic as a result !

Please hop on and see what the other ladies have created today and leave us a comment where you can.

Inky hugs,
