Jelly beans birthday card - so easy to make yourself

My second blog post of the week and it’s with the lovely Stamptastic Friends blog hop! This month the theme is punches and I’ve had a recent order with the Sweet Jar stamp set and coordinating punch. It’s a really versatile stamp set as it has a variety of images to pop inside your jar including some sweets so I’m sharing a jelly bean card today !

To get started you need a coloured card base (I’ve used Lost Lagoon) measuring 14.8cm by 21cm and scored at 10.5cm on the longer side. My inside and outside white layers are cut to 14.3cm by 10cm. You’ll need a little spare coloured cardstock to create your greeting on to punch out the jar lid.

Next steps for the jelly bean card

Stamp your jar in memento black ink and then stamp your jelly beans in a very light colour tone as you will colour over the top with Stampin’ Blends. For my jelly bean card I stamped the jelly beans in Lemon Lolly as it’s such a light tone. Then I coloured over the top in Calypso Coral, Lost Lagoon, Melon Mambo, Highland Heather and Daffodil Delight.

The background layer is created by using a mixture of coloured Stampin Markers and Blends and dotting the end lightly onto the card layer. I randomly mixed the dots together starting with the darker tones and progressing to lighter tones. It’s a really quick and easy way to add a little background detail. I used the same colours as I did with the jelly beans. You should feel free to certainly use any colours you have in your collection. If you are limited just pick 3 and make sure you have a dark, mid and light tone.

Now, punch out the jar and secure to the card layer with dimensionals (foam pads) over the dotty background strip.

Finishing touches

Keeping it clean and simple I added some flicks of glitter across the card using the wink of stella brush. I also brushed the jelly bean sweets with the Wink of Stella too as the sweets in real life have a glossy coating.
