The Tropical Escape product suite in the 2018-19 Stampin’ Up! catalogue has everything you need as a crafter.  You can see the full range here.

I can not tell you how much I love the quality and colour co-ordination across our products from the embellishments through to the Sizzix dies.  It gives you so much confidence to know that your papercraft projects will perfectly blend in front of your eyes. Anyway back to Crafty Cuppa….

Tropical Escape card

I chose a gate-fold card base template with the outer covers showcasing the designer series paper and the detailed die cuts.

How can I make the Tropical Escape card?

You need to select your coloured cardstock for the card base.  I selected Granny Apple Green card base along with a Granny Apple sheet of the designer series paper sheet (DSP).  You will also need some white cardstock approximately one sheet.

Now cut a card base measuring 4 1/4″ by 11″ and score the end of each card at 2 3/4″.  Then you will need to cut out two rectangles of DSP measuring 4″ by 2 1/2″. Glue the DSP to the “gate” fronts and I used Tombow as it allows me to adjust the positioning a little before drying.

Time to start stamping !

Next cut out the insert layer from the white cardstock measuring 4″ by 5 1/4″.  Using the Tropical Chic stamp set stamp a border around the layer using the leaves and/or flowers like I did below.  I would recommend using the following ink pads; Granny Apple Green, Shaded Spruce and Blushing Bride.

You now need to stamp the images that you wish to cut out using the dies.  I chose to do one of each leaf along with three flowers stamping onto the remaining white cardstock.  Whilst the ink dries glue in your inner layer and then cut out the stamped images using the dies.  The stamps produce a high quality image and the dies cut out a clean crisp image.  I used the leaf outline dies but you could used the coloured cardstock with both the inner and outline dies rather than stamping onto white cardstock.

At this point the ladies stopped crafting to enjoy the amazing homemade Eton Mess cupcakes that Claire had brought along with her.tropical chic, the inky nook, stampin up, stampin up demonstrator, coffee and card, local community, share what you love, make a card send a card

The final steps….

The only thing left to do is to layer up your embellishments which I did by gluing the leaves onto the right hand gate front and then fixing the Blushing Bride flowers using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Whilst the ladies were busy creating their own versions I sat down and quickly created an extra sample to inspire them.
