Hello and welcome to The Inky Nook with me, Carrie ! Thank you for stopping by my blog today where I want to share how you can repurpose your stamp sets. I’m a big believer that when I invest in a stamp set I want to see how versatile it is and that I won’t just make one card with it.

Snow Front stamp set

I bought this stamp set last year when it first came out and was super excited to see it rollover into the annual catalogue this year. I used it for both Autumn and Christmas cards last year and as you know I’m super autumnal at the moment after last week’s blog post.

To begin with I stamped the trees in Early Espresso as they are the centrepiece of the card. Next was the little log cabin stamped in Soft Suede. Now, you need to ‘mask off’ this cabin so you can add the fir trees so they appear behind and around the cabin.

How to ‘mask off’

Stamp the image you need to hide in order to stamp on top of it. In this case we need to hide the cabin so we stamp the cabin onto a post it note (sticky end) and fussy cut close to the cabin’s outline. Stick the post it note over the cabin on your card layer and follow up with stamping your fir trees in Shaded Spruce. I did a mix of stamping on and stamping off to create the colour tones of the fir trees. You can stamp over the top of the post it note and once happy with your mini forest peel away the post it note. All being well you are left with cabin surrounded by trees like my card below. If you would like to watch a video you can see my facebook live where I shared how you can do this. In case you don’t have time to watch the whole video jump through to about 11 minutes and you will be about right for the learning about ‘masking off’.

Autumn Blossom

Add your woodland paths in Soft Suede, grassland in Pear Pizzazz followed up by a small lake stamped in Balmy Blue because this card wouldn’t be complete without creating your landscape.

The inside of your card is just as important as the outside because with a handmade card you make it personal to you. My customers know I like to bring elements of the card front, through to the inside and onto the envelope ! For the inside layer, I have part stamped one of the trees from the ‘three tree stamp” followed by some of the blossom and the deers. Hopefully you can appreciate from the photo below how you can repurpose the front layer in to the inside layer.

Thank you for joining me today and I hope I’ve encouraged you to look at your Christmas stamp sets differently. Or perhaps you will think about your new stamp set purchase and how versatile it is before you order. Let me know in the comments which set you will now try and repurpose….

Until next time.
