Hello and welcome to The Inky Nook whether you are starting the Stamptastic Friends hop with me or hopping over from Leighsa. Our theme this month is fabulous flowers so I knew I wanted to make a handmade floral birthday card to share with you. It just so happens that I sent these out for a recent team card swap and had to wait until everyone had received theirs before I could share.
Pretty Perennials floral card
This card is CASE’d from my December Stamptastic Friends Pretty Perennials blog post and is one of my favourite products in the current mini catalogue. Today’s handmade floral birthday card uses just the stamp set along with an embossing folder. I started off by randomly stamping the pansy style flowers in rococco rose followed by the green leaf stems. Next, I just added in the purple seed heads with stems and then the yellow small pansy style flowers into the remaining gaps.
After that I ran this vanilla layer through my cut and emboss machine using the Painted Texture 3D embossing folder which gives a deep paint brushstroke effect. Similarly, you could use another embossing folder or perhaps scrunch up your layer if you don’t have any folders. I glued this layer to my Gorgeous Grape card base which will fit in a C6 envelope.
Happy birthday label
I took a stitched label rectangle and stamped ‘BIRTHDAY’ in the bottom right corner. Meanwhile I stamped ‘happy’ in Gorgeous Grape onto Gorgeous Grape cardstock and then fussy cut this out. Using Stampin’ dimensionals to secure the ‘happy’ to the rectangle gives some extra depth to make the word ‘pop’ off the card.
Finishing touches
Adding a vanilla layer inside and stamping on to it just adds a small finishing touch to your gorgeous handmade floral birthday card. For this card I stamped the large pansy from the front of the card and added some little leaves either side for effect.
Although this is a birthday card I think it would be easy to switch it perhaps to a Mother’s Day card for next month in the UK. So let us go and check out what everyone else has got to share today and before you hop off leave me a comment below. Until next time…..
