Welcome to our September blog hop where the theme is ‘sale-a-bration’. In the Stampin’ Up! world this is a 2 month period which happens twice during the year. The best bit is you get to pick a FREE item with every £45 order you place with your demonstrator. I am going to showcase the Delicate Dahlias stamp set which is one of the free items you can pick. When I saw this set I knew it would be great for heat embossing with Stampin’ Up! powders. The tools you need for heat embossing are available are a heat tool, versamark ink pad and embossing powders.

Simple heat embossing

For my first card I took a Bumblebee card base made from half a sheet of A4 cardstock. Next stamp the large Dahlia image using the Versamark ink pad. Sprinkle your embossing powder over the stamped images, I am using white on my card. Then shake/tap off the excess and set the powder with your heat tool. A top tip is not to hold the heat tool to close to your card and to heat from both sides as this helps prevent the card from bending.

Heat emboss and add pops of colour using blending brushes

For the second card I am sharing I am repeating the embossing process outlined above but on very vanilla cardstock. I switched the large dahlia for the smaller flowers and leaves stamps. After heating the embossing powder to set it I used blending brushes to colour in the rest of the card. Notice how the ink ‘sticks’ to the card but not the embossed images.

So which heat embossing technique might you use first in your own cardmaking? Please feel free to tag me in any projects you share on social media with #theinkynook or #tech4stampers. I will include the products I am using in a list below in case you would like to order them if you don’t already have your own demonstrator. Now please do hop over and see what everyone else has created to share on the hop today.
