Stamptastic Friends blog hop wording in blue and pink font

Welcome to the monthly Stamptastic Friends blog hop where our theme is make something personalised. For me I still have our family Christmas cards to make and I am sharing the card for my mother in law. Don’t worry she isn’t big on the internet or social media so this isn’t a spoiler for her!

One of my favourite products from the Autumn/Winter catalogue is the Cottage Wreaths bundle as it’s not just for Christmas. At my recent Crafty Cuppa class we made a card with the acorns and leaves with an Autumnal feel. Anyway back to today and how I got started with this card.

Step 1 – get the wreath stamped

Begin by stamping the leaf wreath in Evening Evergreen and then add a few berries using the red rhinestone jewels. You could use a red Stampin’ blend if you don’t have any of the gems.

Step 2 – create the ‘Merry Christmas’ greeting

Heat embossing is a great addition to this card which I achieved using black card and white embossing powder. A top tip here is to stamp several of the greeting with Versamark ink on to the black card. Then you have a batch of greetings ready for more cards and you can trim them with your paper trimmer or fussy cut them out like I have done here.

The greeting reads Merry Christmas mum for this family Christmas card. Picture shows heat embossed white merry christmas greeting on black cardstock

Step 3 – personalise your family Christmas cards

Now to personalise my card with “mum” in Real Red ink in the middle of the wreath using the Alphabest stamp set. If you needed a longer personalisation such as sister or their name then you could do this on separate cardstock and punch the letters out with the Best label punch. The finishing touch was to flick some Wink of Stella “splodges” over the surrounding white card.

I know my mother in law is going to love this card and I may use the design for some more personalised Christmas cards. Now please do hop around the rest of the hop using the links below to see what the other ladies have created to share with us. Until next time,

Inky hugs, Carrie x
