Stamptastic Friends blog hop wording in blue and pink font

Hi there and thank you for joining me on the Stamptastic Friends blog hop this month. We have a colour challenge theme to use up to 3 new or returning colours to the Stampin’ Up! colour collections in 2023. The 3 colours I have chosen are: Bubble Bath and Lemon Lolly (both new to the family) and returning colour, Berry Burst. Alongside this you can use black, white or grey. I will be using the Circle Sayings bundle to create a cupcake birthday card. What I like about colour challenge is it allows you to create simple projects and if you don’t have many ink pads or cardstock options it shows how easy it is to make pretty cards with minimal colours.

Cupcake Birthday Card 1 – simple stamping with Berry Burst

This first birthday card idea is ideal for a beginner card maker or when you want a very quick card to make (if like me you might have left it to the last minute to sort!). The card base is a standard A4 card sheet cut in half vertically and scored at 14.9cm. Next I randomly stamped in Berry Burst on the card base with the “ray burst” all over. The cupcake is also stamped in Berry Burst and the ‘celebrate’ border is in Basic Grey. This has been punched out with the 2 3/8″ circle punch that comes in this bundle.

Next use dimensionals to fix the circle to the card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals and I guarantee it will take you less than 2 minutes to make one of these cards. You could make them in multiple colours if you have other colours in your collection but if your colours are limited this is easy for you too.

Cupcake Birthday Card 2 – using Lemon Lolly and ideal for a regular card maker

Lemon Lolly is a lovely soft yellow and reminds me of a creamy vanilla ice cream ! I’ve replicated the first card above but kept the ray stamps to just either side of the circle. The cupcake is stamped in grey and then I’ve used the Lemon Lolly ink pad and a blender pen to colour in the cupake itself.

Additionally, the ribbon is also Lemon Lolly and adds another step up dimension to the card and is simply folded in half to create the loop with tails at the other side.

Cupcake Birthday Card 3 – the ‘wow’ card using Bubble Bath

The final cupcake birthday card is my Bake Off’s showstopper card idea. My final colours used are Bubble Bath and Basic Grey. For this final card I’ve added in an embossed white card layer onto the card base and done a double ‘bow’ with the coordinating ribbon. The cupcake is stamped in grey and coloured in with Bubble Bath stampin blends which adds depth to the cupcake. I also cut out the cupcake and secured to the punched out circle with dimensionals.

To finish off I added some Wink of Stella to the cupcake icing and used the Stampin’ Blends to colour in some pearl rhinestones. When I shared these with my daughter this was her favourite card out of the three whereas she normally prefers the card 1 design idea.

Thanks for joining me and let me know in the comments if you like the cupcake birthday card ideas I’ve shared. Don’t forget to hop around and check out the other Stamptastic Friends creative inspiration. Until next time,

Inky hugs, Carrie x
